22Connecting2Connectingy If a connected HDMI device does not acceptthe audio output of the player, the HDMIdevice’s audio sound may be distorted ormay not output.y When you use HDMI connection, you canchange the resolution for the HDMI output.(Refer to “Resolution Setting” on page 24.)y Select the type of video output from theHDMI OUT jack using [HDMI Color Setting]option on the [Setup] menu (see page 32).y Changing the resolution when theconnection has already been establishedmay result in malfunctions. To solve theproblem, turn off the player and then turn iton again.y When the HDMI connection with HDCPis not verified, TV screen is changed toblack screen. In this case, check the HDMIconnection, or disconnect the HDMI cable.y If there are noises or lines on the screen,please check the HDMI cable (length isgenerally limited to 4.5 m(15 ft.)).,, Note ARC (Audio Return Channel)functionThe ARC function enables an HDMI capable TV tosend the audio stream to HDMI OUT of this player.To use this function:- Your TV must support the ARC function andthe ARC of this player must be set to On (Initialsetting is “Off”).- The setting method of ARC may differ dependingon the TV. For details about ARC function, referto your TV manual.- You must use the HDMI cable (Type A, HighSpeed HDMI™ Cable with Ethernet).- You must connect with the HDMI IN of TV thatsupports the ARC function using the HDMI OUTon this player.- You can connect only one Home Theater to TVcompatible with ARC.- The ARC function does not warrant that thefunction works in all cases even if the aboveconditions are satisfied.- When you use the ARC function, CEC (ConsumerElectronics Control) may work. If you do not wantto use CEC, you can stop it work by setting "ARCOff" on Home Menu. In this case, it is needed toconnect TV and this player by an optical cable tosend the audio stream to this player.
