178GlossaryThis glossary explains some of the terms used in the manual.3D Hybrid sensorThe built-in sensor which enables the system to estimate your car’s position. A learning functionincreases its accuracy and two sets of learning data can be stored in memory.Address BookA list of previously searched destinations, way points and locations registered manually.Current locationThe present location of your car; your current location is shown on the map by a red triangle mark.Default settingA factory setting which applies when you first switch on the system; you can change default settings tosuit your own needs in the Settings menu.DestinationA location you choose as the end point of your journey.DVD-ROMA disc used to store data.Favorite locationA frequently visited location (such as your workplace or a relative’s home) that you can register to alloweasy routing.GPSGlobal Positioning System. A network of satellites that provides navigation signals for a variety of pur-poses.Guidance modeThe mode in which guidance is given as you drive to your destination; the system automatically switchesto this mode as soon as a route has been set.Guidance pointThese are important landmarks along your route, generally intersections. The next way point along yourroute is indicated on the map by the yellow flag icon.Home locationYour registered home location.JoystickThe main control on the Remote Control; it is used extensively to make selections from menus and toscroll the map display.MenuA list of options shown on the display; choices are selected using the joystick.PC cardCard-type peripheral equipment mainly used for personal computers. The Navigation System can use amemory card to store data.Point of Interest (POI)Point Of Interest; any of a range of locations stored in the data, such as railway stations, shops, restau-rants, and amusement parks.Remote ControlThe remote control unit for the system.Route settingThe process of determining the ideal route to a specific location; route setting is done automatically bythe system when you specify a destination.
