Command editing 36IPLink Software Configuration Guide 3 • Command line interface (CLI)Command defaults—returning parameters to default valuesThe parameters of certain commands are set to their default value simply by omitting the parameter.For example:• sntp-client local-port 220—Sets the UDP port used by the SNTP client to 220• sntp-client local-port—Sets the UDP port used by the SNTP client back to its default setting of 123The other examples of such commands are:Command completionYou can use the key in any mode to carry out command completion. Partially typing a command nameand pressing the key causes the command to be displayed in full up to the point where a further choicehas to be made. For example, rather than typing configure, typing conf and pressing the key causes theCLI to complete the command at the prompt. If the number of characters is not sufficient to uniquely identifythe command, the CLI will provide a list with all commands starting with the typed characters. For example, ifyou enter the string co in the configure mode and press , the selections configure, copy, and context aredisplayed.Command historyIPLink software maintains a list of previously entered commands that you can go through by pressing the arrow> and keys, and then pressing to enter the command.The show history command displays a list of the commands you can go through by using the arrow keys.Command Editing ShortcutsIPLink software CLI provides a number of Emacs-style command shortcuts that facilitate editing of the com-mand line. Command editing shortcuts are summarized in table 4 on page 36. The syntax <Ctrl>- meanspress the <p> key while holding down the keyboard’s control key (sometimes labeled Control, Ctl, or Ctrl,depending on the keyboard and operating system of your computer).- is handled differently; press and release the escape key (often labeled Esc on many keyboards) andthen press the <f> key.sntp-client operating-mode sntp-client anycast-address sntp-client local-portsntp-client poll-interval penalty-box-time sntp-client gmt-offsetserver-timeout timeout domainTable 4.
