8PrefaceFeaturesThe Network Disk Recorders WJ-ND200 series are designed for use within a surveillance system, and perform recordings andplaybacks pictures from network cameras in the system.The network disk recorder is a recording device using a hard disk drive to record camera pictures instead of using video tapesso that pictures recorded by repeated overwriting will not experience deterioration of the recorded picture quality.Up to 16 cameras can be connected via a network and it is possible to record their camera pictures. It is possible to performthe settings or operate the WJ-ND200 (this unit) using a web browser installed on a PC connected to a network. Up to 4 PCs(web browsers) can access this unit concurrently and it is possible to perform the settings and operate this unit.Recording FunctionsMulti-recordingIt is possible to perform multiple recordings using a singlenetwork disk recorder even if the operating environmentsare different, for example, recording pictures of cameras indifferent places at different times.Schedule recordingIt is possible to perform recording automatically at a sched-uled time on a designated day of a week. It is also possibleto perform recording at a different recording rate accordingto time range.Emergency recordingIn the case of an emergency, emergency recordings will begiven a higher priority than other recording modes by oper-ating an external switch.External timer recordingIt is possible to perform recording automatically using anexternal timer.Event recordingAt an event occurrence, such as an alarm signal is sup-plied, the recording mode (recording rate) can be changedto high rate to record pictures.Removable diskTwo removable disks are provided, and they can beremoved and inserted easily and quickly on the front of theunit.When using two drives, it is possible to replace the diskswithout interrupting recording.Downloading/Transmitting ImagesIt is possible to download (save) the currently displayedimage in the web browser window onto the hard disk of aPC. By establishing an FTP server, it is possible to transmitimages to the designated FTP server periodically. When anevent occurs, it is possible to transmit images from thecamera installed in the place where the alarm occurred.Event Notification FunctionWhen an event occurs, it is possible to send e-mails to des-ignated addresses to notify of the event occurrence.It is also possible to send an e-mail with an image recordedwhen the event occurred.Security Function and Reliability• User authentication function (registration of user nameand password) allows users access to predeterminedselection of the available functions. Up to 32 users canbe registered.• Host authentication function restricts devices from oper-ating this unit if their IP addresses are not registered.• If a hard disk crashes, the mirroring function preventsany recorded pictures loss by continuing recording onthe another hard disk.
