The address translation table is owned jointly by allVoIP Gateway Cards in the network. Therefore, whenever the address translation table ischanged, it is important to update all the cards in the network with the latest information;otherwise VoIP communications cannot be established.It is possible, at one location in the network, to program the address translation table thatcontains information for the entire network. The completed address translation table can thenbe distributed across the network, so that all the cards share the same information (see "4.2.6Downloading the Address Translation Table from the VoIP Gateway Card", and "UploadingAddress Translation Table to the VoIP Gateway Card" in "4.3 Programming the VoIP GatewayCard in the Chicago Office").The procedure below demonstrates the process of programming the address translation tablenecessary for VoIP communications between the Los Angeles and Chicago offices.The specific setting values are based on the table under "PBX Connection Information" in"1.2.2 Numbering Plan Example".*1 IP address-to-telephone number translation can also be handled by using an H.323 Gatekeeper device.
