Ifanoutsideantennaisconnectedtothetelevisionequipment,besuretheantennasystemisgroundedsoastoprovidesomeprotectionagainstvoltagesurgesandbuiltupstaticcharges.IntheU.S.Section810ofthe NationalElectricalCodeandinCanadaPart1oftheCanadianElectricalCodeprovidesinformationwithrespecttopropergroundingofthemastandsupportingstructure,groundingofthelead-inwiretoanantennadischargeunit,sizeofgroundingconductors,locationofantenna-dischargeunit,connectiontogroundingelectrodes,andrequirementsforthegroundingelectrode.SeeFigure.15. Foraddedprotectionforthistelevisionreceiverduringa lightningstorm,orwhenitis leftunattendedandunusedforlongperiodsoftime,unplugitfromthewalloutletanddisconnecttheantenna.Thiswillpreventdamagetothereceiverduetolightningandpower-linesurges.16.Anoutsideantennasystemshouldnotbelocatedinthevicinityofoverheadpowerlinesorotherelectriclightorpowercircuits,orwhereitcanfallintosuchpowerlinesorcircuits.Wheninstallinganoutsideantennasystemextremecareshouldbetakento keepfromtouchingsuchpowerlinesorcircuitsascontactwiththemmightbefatal.17.Unplugthistelevisionreceiverfromthewalloutlet,andreferservicingtoqualifiedservicepersonnelunderthefollowingconditions:a.
