44LANWake up from LANThis is a function to automatically power the computer on from a network server whenthe computer is in the standby or hibernation mode*. To use this function, it is neces-sary to have a network environment that accommodates Wake up from LAN.* Windows NT : off/hibernationTo use this function:Windows 98 Windows 20001 Select [Device Manager]* 1 in [Start] - [Settings] - [Control Panel] - [System].2 Select [Realtek RTL8139/810X Family PCI Fast Ethernet NIC]*2 from [Networkadapters].3 Select [Properties]*3 .4 Select [Power Management], add the check mark for [Allow this device to bring thecomputer out of standby.] and [Allow the computer to turn off this device to savepower.], then select [OK].*1 Windows 2000 : [Hardware] - [Device Manager]*2 Windows 2000 : [Realtek RTL8139 Family PCI Fast Ethernet NIC]*3 Windows 2000 : [Action] - [Properties].Windows NTSet [Wake up from LAN] to [Enable] with the Setup Utility. ( page 48)Be sure to connect the AC adaptor, and enable the supply of power.Make settings to allow the use of a Local Area Network.The computer will not “wake up” if the LAN cable is disconnected and recon-nected.Windows 98 Windows 2000When using the Wake up from LAN function, delete the check mark for [Promptfor password when computer goes off standby] in [Start] - [Settings] - [ControlPanel] - [Power Management*] - [Advanced].* Windows 2000 : [Power Options]The Wake up from LAN function will not operate under the following conditions:- When the computer has been shut down.- Windows 98When the computer has been placed in the hibernation mode from MS-DOSmode.This works in Windows 98 or Windows 2000 irrespective of the [Wake up fromLAN] setting of the Setup Utility.Windows NTThe Wake up from LAN function will not operate under the following conditions:- When the computer has been shut down by pressing the power switch for morethan four seconds.- When the password has been input incorrectly, and the computer has returnedto hibernation, or power off status.When using the Wake up from LAN function, the password is not necessary evenif the password has been set in the Setup Utility.NOTE
