Do not nail, cut, crush, throw, drop the batterycartridge, or hit against a hard object to thebattery cartridge. Such conduct may result in afire, excessive heat, or explosion.9. Do not use a damaged battery.10. The contained lithium-ion batteries are subjectto the Dangerous Goods Legislation require-ments.For commercial transports e.g. by third parties,forwarding agents, special requirement on pack-aging and labeling must be observed.For preparation of the item being shipped, consult-ing an expert for hazardous material is required.Please also observe possibly more detailednational regulations.Tape or mask off open contacts and pack up thebattery in such a manner that it cannot movearound in the packaging.11. When disposing the battery cartridge, removeit from the tool and dispose of it in a safeplace. Follow your local regulations relating todisposal of battery.12. Use the batteries only with the productsspecified by Makita. Installing the batteries tonon-compliant products may result in a fire, exces-sive heat, explosion, or leak of electrolyte.13. If the tool is not used for a long period of time,the battery must be removed from the tool.14. During and after use, the battery cartridge maytake on heat which can cause burns or lowtemperature burns. Pay attention to the han-dling of hot battery cartridges.15. Do not touch the terminal of the tool imme-diately after use as it may get hot enough tocause burns.16. Do not allow chips, dust, or soil stuck into theterminals, holes, and grooves of the batterycartridge. It may cause heating, catching fire,burst and malfunction of the tool or battery car-tridge, resulting in burns or personal injury.17. Unless the tool supports the use nearhigh-voltage electrical power lines, do not usethe battery cartridge near high-voltage electri-cal power lines. It may result in a malfunction orbreakdown of the tool or battery cartridge.18. Always stop tool operation andcharge the battery cartridge when you noticeless tool power.2. Never recharge a fully charged battery car-tridge. Overcharging shortens the batteryservice life.3. Charge the battery cartridge with room tem-perature at 10 °C - 40 °C (50 °F - 104 °F). Leta hot battery cartridge cool down beforecharging it.4. When not using the battery cartridge, removeit from the tool or the charger.5. Charge the battery cartridge if you do not useit for a long period (more than six months).ASSEMBLYWARNING: Always be sure that all the batterycartridges are removed before carrying out anywork on the machine. Failure to remove all the bat-tery cartridges may result in serious personal injuryfrom accidental start-up.WARNING: Never start the machine unless itis completely assembled. Operation of the machinein a partially assembled state may result in seriouspersonal injury from accidental start-up.Installing the handleNOTICE: When installing the handles, be carefulnot to pinch the cord between the handles. If thecord is damaged, the switch may not work.1. Raise the lower handle.2. Align the hole in the lower handle with the holein the middle handle, then insert the bolt from theinside, and then tighten the thumb nut from the outside.Perform the same procedure on the other side.► Fig.1: 1.
