Configuring Your px4-300d Network Storage to Use ActiveDirectoryIf you have an existing Active Directory user organization, you can incorporate it into the px4-300dManagement Console. Your px4-300d can work in a high availability environment, which means it canwork with multiple AD servers should one server fail or go offline.When you configure Active Directory, you enable security on your px4-300d.1. To configure Active Directory, manually add the px4-300d to your DNS server. Set the px4-300dDNS setting to point to your DNS server. On the Network page, uncheck Automaticallyconfigure all network settings, type the IP address of your DNS Server in the text box, and clickApply to save your settings.2. Configure the px4-300d to join the Active Directory domain. On the Device Identification page,select Active Directory if you already have an existing AD user organization that you want toincorporate into the px4-300d.3. Provide the following connectivity information:● Domain Name — the actual name of your Active Directory domain, for example, sohoad.com.● Preferred Server — the actual name or IP address of your Active Directory Server, forexample, ad-server.sohoad.com or 10.14.50.12.● Netbios Name — An optional value that is automatically set to the first part of the DomainName. For example, if you Domain Name is testdomain.emc.com, the Netbios Name istestdomain. You can edit this name or leave it blank.● Organizational Unit — an optional predefined subset of directory objects within an ActiveDirectory domain.● Administrator Username — the Active Directory username with domain administratorprivilege.● Administrator Password — the Active Directory password for the specified Active Directoryusername.● Users/Groups Refresh Interval — how often the px4-300d should refresh the list of availableusers and groups from the Active Directory server.● Local Network Encryption (SSL) — enforces encryption on your local network.● Remote Network Encryption (SSL) — enforces encryption outside your local network, suchas through the internet. Choices for both encryption types are Not required and Always(encryption is always enforced). Always encrypting communication is safest, but can impactperformance.● Enable trusted domains — enables your px4-300d to allow access to other domains.4.
