The short version of the command.SYSTemThe SYSTem command subsystem returns error numbers and messages in theerror queue.Syntax:SYSTem:ERRor?:PIMacro :VERSion?:ERRor?SYSTem:ERRor? returns the error numbers and corresponding error messages inthe error queue. See Appendix B in this manual for a listing of the error numbersand messages.Comments– When an error is generated by the counter, it stores an error number andcorresponding message in the error queue.– One error is removed from the error queue each time the SYSTem:ERRor?command is executed. The errors are cleared in a first-in, first-out order. This means that if several errors are waiting in the queue, eachSYSTem:ERRor? query will return the oldest (not the most recent) error. That error is then removed from the queue.– When the error queue is empty, subsequent SYSTem:ERRor? queriesreturns +0, "No error". To clear all errors from the queue, execute the *CLScommand.– The error queue has a maximum capacity of 30 errors. If the queueoverflows, the last error is replaced with -350, "Too many errors". Nofurther errors are accepted by the queue until space becomes available.– *RST Condition: *RST does not clear the error queue.
