58 8163A/B, 8164A/B, 8166A/B User’s Guide1 Getting StartedA Sample SessionThis sample session shows you how to measure the power of a modulatedsignal at a single wavelength. The sample session is written for the 8163A/B Lightwave Multimeter or8164A/B Lightwave Measurement System, the Keysight 81960A TunableLaser module, and the Keysight 81634B Power Sensor. To perform thesample session as described here, you also need a patchcord (if you areusing the 81000AI Connector interface, then a Diamond HMS-10/HRL toDiamond HMS-10/patchcord, 81109AC).How to Measure the Power of a Modulated SignalWe want to measure the power of a 1540 nm signal, modulated by a100 kHz square wave, at 500 mW.1 1 Make sure that all your connectors, and connector interfaces areclean.2 Make sure that the Optical Output of the Laser Source is not active.3 Connect the output of the Laser Source to the input of the PowerSensor module, as shown in Figure 26 on page -59. You must connectthe correct fiber end connector for your Tunable Laser module:a For straight contact connectors, use a straight contact fiber endconnector with a black sleeve.b For angled contact connectors with a green sign beside the TunableLaser module’s optical output connector, use an angled contactfiber end connector with a green sleeve.
