For certain cleaning procedures, you may also requirecertain Additional Cleaning Equipment on page 429.Standard Cleaning EquipmentBefore you can start your cleaning procedure you need the followingstandard equipment:• Dust and shutter caps on page 427• Isopropyl alcohol on page 427• Cotton swabs on page 428• Soft tissues on page 428• Pipe cleaner on page 429• Compressed air on page 429Dust and shutter capsAll of Keysight Technologies’ lightwave instruments are delivered witheither laser shutter caps or dust caps on the lightwave adapter. Any cablescome with covers to protect the cable ends from damage orcontamination. We suggest these protected coverings should be kept on the equipment atall times, except when your optical device is in use. Be careful whenreplacing dust caps after use. Do not press the bottom of the cap onto thefiber too hard, as any dust in the cap can scratch or pollute your fibersurface. If you need further dust caps, please contact your nearest KeysightTechnologies sales office.Isopropyl alcoholThis solvent is usually available from any local pharmaceutical supplier orchemist's shop.If you use isopropyl alcohol to clean your optical device, do notimmediately dry the surface with compressed air (except when you arecleaning very sensitive optical devices). This is because the dust and thedirt is solved and will leave behind filmy deposits after the alcohol isevaporated. You should therefore first remove the alcohol and the dustwith a soft tissue, and then use compressed air to blow away anyremaining filaments.
