27Tuner operations Tuning in to stations manuallyFrom the remote control ONLY:1 Press FM or AM to select the band.The last received station of the selected band is tuned in.2 Press repeatedly or hold TUNING 9 or( TUNING until the station you want istuned in.• Pressing (or holding) TUNING 9 increases thefrequency.• Pressing (or holding) ( TUNING decreases thefrequency.NOTES• When you hold and release TUNING 9 or ( TUNING, thefrequency keeps changing until a station is tuned in.• When a station of sufficient signal strength is tuned in, theTUNED indicator lights up on the display.• When an FM stereo program is received, the STEREOindicator also lights up.Using preset tuningOnce a station is assigned a channel number, the station canbe quickly tuned simply by selecting the number. You canpreset up to 30 FM and 15 AM stations.To store the preset stationsBefore you start, remember...There is a time limit in doing the following steps. If the setting iscanceled before you finish, start from step2 again.From the remote control ONLY:1 Tune in to the station you want to preset(see “Tuning in to stations manually”above).• If you want to store the FM reception mode for thisstation, select the FM reception mode you want. To use the remote control for tuneroperations, select “FM” or “AM” by using FM or AM button onthe remote control.Setting the AM tuner interval spacingSome countries space AM stations 9 kHz apart, and othercountries use 10 kHz spacing. 9 kHz interval spacing is the initialsetting.• Be sure the receiver is turned off, but is plugged into an ACoutlet when setting the AM tuner interval.On the front panel ONLY:To select the 10 kHz interval:Hold down ADJUST and press STANDBY/ON.“10k STEP” appears on the display.To change back to the 9 kHz interval:Hold down SETTING and press STANDBY/ON.“9k STEP” appears on the display.NOTEWhen you change the AM tuner interval spacing, stored presetstations are erased.
