36 EN BASIC OPERATIONS ON DVD DECKFree Rate FunctionTo record the entire program, the unit automatically sets theappropriate recording mode depending on the combination of thetotal time of the program to be recorded and either the remainingdisc space or the specified recording time (from 60 minutes to 480minutes).8 To record the entire program within the actual remainingdisc space (DVD deck only)Select AFR (JUST)B in a recording mode selection procedure.● Note that this function is available only for timer programmingrecording (A pg. 46, 48) and dubbing from HDD to DVD(A pg. 57).8 To record the entire program by specifying the desiredrecording timeSelect AFR60–FR360B, AFR420B or AFR480B in a recording modeselection procedure. (A pg. 34, 37, 46, 48)8 To record a 25-min. long daily program five times just onthe same DVD disc for examplePerform AVCR Plus+ Timer ProgrammingB (A pg. 46) procedure.Be sure to set the recording mode to AFR125B and set Weekly/Daily Rec Function to AMON-FRIB in step 8 to fit the total recordingtime to the whole disc space.When the same program is recorded in SP mode instead of inAFR125B, the 5th program cannot be recorded.NOTES:● You can program this unit to timer record, regardless of the discremaining time. When the disc remaining time is not enough, theunit performs ARelief RecordingB (A pg. 48). To avoid this, makesure of the disc remaining time before setting timer programming.(Example) If you programmed to timer record for 60 minutes inSP mode on a 120-minute disc, the disc remaining time would be30 minutes in XP mode, 60 minutes in SP mode, 120 minutes inLP mode, 180 minutes in EP mode, and 240 minutes in FR480mode. Timer recording will not complete beyond these remainingtimes.● The maximum recording time of FR (JUST) mode is the same asthe recording time of FR480 mode. When timer programming along program in FR (JUST) mode on a disc whose remainingtime is short, it is recommended to check the disc remaining timein FR480 mode to see if the remaining time is enough for theprogram.● Even if more than one program are timer programmed in FR(JUST) mode, only the first one is recorded.● In order to ensure that the recording fits on the disc, this featuremay leave a slight non-recorded section at the end of the disc.● There may be some noise and sound disturbance at the point onthe disc where the unit switches the mode.Second Audio RecordingThis unit’s built-in MTS decoder enables reception of MultichannelTV Sound broadcast. To record a SAP program received, set A2NDAUDIO RECORDB to AONB.
