10 SETUP AND CONNECTIONSSetup and Connections Ensure that the power switch of this unit andother equipment to be connected is set to offbefore commencing connection. Do not block ventilation holes of any of theequipment and arrange them so that air cancirculate freely. Read through the instructions before connect-ing other equipment. Ensure that you observe the color codingwhen connecting audio and video cables.Notes: The Video output (yellow) combines the com-plete video signal (composite) and sends it tothe TV (or to the AV Receiver) by one lineonly. Use the Video output, when your TV setis equipped with a Video input jack only. The S (separate) video output connector sepa-rates the color (C) and luminance (Y) signalsbefore transmitting them to the TV set inorder to achieve a sharper picture. Use the S-video cable (optional) when connecting theplayer to a TV equipped with an S-video inputfor improved picture clarity. Never connectboth outputs, Video and S-Video, to your TVor AV Receiver, only one of them. Most European TV´s are equipped with SCARTconnectors rather than with a normal videoinput (yellow cinch). In that case the SCARTconnection should be used, providing theaudio signal too, (see page 12). Separate ana-log audio connections to TV are needed onlyif your TV is connected to the video or S-videooutput. When the audio signal is to be fed to a stereoor Pro Logic amplifier/decoder or receiverrather than to the TV, connect the Audio Outjacks to any normal audio input on youramplifier/decoder/receiver. The DVD 20 will”downmix” Dolby Digital recordings to ProLogic, available on these connectors, all ana-log surround or stereo signals will be fed tothem directly.You can also select the audio and video sig-nals of all your video devices with your AVReceiver/Amplifier.
