Editing RoutesA route can be edited any time after its creation.To edit a route from the active route page orthe route definition page:1. Select the waypoint you want to edit, and press E.An on-screen menu of editing choices will appear,with options for reviewing, inserting, deleting, orchanging the waypoint field highlighted. This field con-tains the following options:• Review?— displays the waypoint definition pagefor the selected waypoint• Insert?— adds a new waypoint directly in frontof the selected waypoint• Remove?— deletes the selected waypoint fromthe route• Change?— allows you to replace the selectedwaypoint with a new waypointNote: Editing the original storage route will notaffect route 0. If you want to save an edited version ofroute 0, save it to an open storage route.On-Route GOTOsAt the beginning of this section, we mentioned thatthe GPS 12 will automatically select the route leg closestto your position as the active leg. This will give yousteering guidance to the desired track (desired course) ofthe active leg. Note that the first waypoint selected as thedestination waypoint will be along the route leg closestto your present position. This may mean you’re not navi-gating to the first waypoint in the active route—you mayeven be navigating to the last. You can manually navigatea route out of sequence at any time (bypassing one ormore interim waypoints) by perform an “on-routeGOTO” from the active route page.To perform an “on-route GOTO” from the activeroute page:1. Highlight the desired route waypoint, and press G.2. Once the GOTO waypoint page appears with the way-point highlighted, press E.Note that after you reach the on-route GOTO way-point, the GPS 12 will automatically resume navigatingthe rest of the route in sequence.Editing Routes& On-RouteGOTO’sREFERENCE30Use the on-screen menu toselect the desired editingfunction. The on-screenmenu is displayed byhighlighting a routewaypoint and pressingENTER..You can ‘skip ahead’ andbypass one or more legs ofthe route by highlighting awaypoint further alongthe route, pressing GOTOand ENTER.
