Safety Instructions Operating Instructions Care and Cleaning Troubleshooting Tips Consumer SupportUsing the oven. ge.comTo avoid possible burns, place the shelves in the desired position before you turn the oven on.Before you begin…The shelves have stop-locks, so that whenplaced correctly on the supports, they willstop before coming completely out, andwill not tilt.When placing and removing cookware,pull the shelf out to the bump on theshelf support.To remove a shelf, pull it toward you, tiltthe front end up and pull it out.To replace, place the end of the shelf(stop-locks) on the support, tilt up thefront and push the shelf in.NOTE: 30 ″ ovens (shown) have 6 shelf positions.27 ″ovens have 4 shelf positions.How to Set the Oven for Baking or RoastingPress the BAKE pad.Press the TEMP + or – pads to setthe desired temperature.Press the START pad.Check food for doneness atminimum time on recipe. Cook longerif necessary.Press the CLEAR/OFF pad whencooking is complete.NOTE: On some models, the lower oven iscontrolled with a knob. To set the oven forbaking, turn the knob to the desired setting ortemperature. Turn the knob to OFF when bakingis complete.NOTE: A cooling fan may automatically turn onand off to cool internal parts. Preheating is necessary forgood results when baking cakes, cookies,pastry and breads.For ovens without a preheat indicator light ortone, preheat 10 minutes.Baking results will be better if bakingpans are centered in the oven as much aspossible. Pans should not touch eachother or the walls of the oven. If youneed to use two shelves, stagger the pansso one is not directly above the other,and leave approximately 11⁄2″ betweenpans, from the front, back and sides ofthe wall.Aluminum FoilYou can use aluminum foil to line thebroiler pan and broiler grid. However,you must mold the foil tightly to the gridand cut slits in it just like the grid.Aluminum foil may also be used to catch aspillover.Never entirely cover a shelf withaluminum foil. This will disturb the heatcirculation and result in poor baking.A smaller sheet of foil may be used tocatch a spillover by placing it on a lowershelf several inches below the food.Cut slits in the foil just like the grid.11
