To avoid damaging your probe, do not usetongs to pull on the cable when removing it. To avoid breaking the probe, make sure foodis completely defrosted before inserting.After preparing the meat and placingit on a trivet or a broiler pan griddesigned for broiling, follow thesedirections for proper probe placement.Insert the probe completely into the meat.It should not touch bone, fat or gristle.NOTE: Failure to fully insert the probe into themeat may result in poor cooking performancebecause the probe will sense the oven air vs.the food temperature. Never leave your probe inside the oven duringa self-cleaning or broil cycle. Do not store the probe in the oven.CAUTION: To prevent possible burns,do not unplug the probe from the oven outlet untilthe oven has cooled.For roasts with no bone, insert the probeinto the meatiest part of the roast. Forbone-in ham or lamb, insert the probeinto the center of the lowest large muscle.Insert the probe into the center of dishessuch as meat loaf or casseroles.Insert the probe into the meatiest part ofthe inner thigh from below and parallelto the leg of a whole turkey.NOTE: Self-clean and Broil settings will not workif the temperature probe is plugged in.The temperature probe has askewer-like probe at one end anda plug at the other end that goesinto the outlet in the oven.Plug CableHandles ProbeUsing the probe. (on some models)For many foods, especially roasts and poultry, internal food temperature is the best test for doneness.The temperature probe takes the guesswork out of roasting by cooking foods to the exact doneness you want.Read and remove labelHow to Set the Oven For Baking/Roasting When Using the Probe (on some models)Insert the probe fully into the food.Plug the probe into the outlet in theoven. Make sure it’s pushed all theway in. Close the oven door. Makesure the probe cable is not touchingthe broil element.Touch the PROBE pad.Touch the number pads to set thedesired internal food or meattemperature. The maximuminternal temperature for the foodthat you can set is 93.3°C (200ºF).Touch the BAKE pad.Touch the number pads to set thedesired oven temperature.Touch the START pad.The display will flash if the probe is insertedinto the outlet and you have not set a probetemperature and touched the START pad.After the internal temperature ofthe food reaches 37.8°C (100°F), thechanging internal temperature will beshown in the display.When the internal temperature ofthe food reaches the number youhave set, the probe and the oventurn off and the oven control signals.To stop the signal, touch the OFFpad. Use hot pads to remove theprobe from the food. Do not usetongs to pull on it—they mightdamage it. If the probe is removed from the oven whileprobe cooking, the oven will not automaticallyturn off.To change the oven temperature duringthe Bake/Roast cycle, touch the BAKEpad and then the number pads to set thenew temperature. You can use the Timer even though you cannotuse timed oven operations while using theprobe.
