If your oven is equipped with gray porcelain-coated oven racks, they may be left in theoven during the self-clean cycle.The shiny, silver-colored oven racks(on some models) can be self-cleaned,but they will darken, lose their luster andbecome hard to slide.Soil on the front frame of the range andoutside the gasket on the door will needto be cleaned by hand. Clean these areaswith hot water, soap-filled steel-wool padsor cleansers such as Soft Scrub®. Rinsewell with clean water and dry.Do not clean the gasket. The fiberglassmaterial of the oven door gasket cannotwithstand abrasion. It is essential for thegasket to remain intact. If you notice itbecoming worn or frayed, replace it.Wipe up any heavy spillovers on theoven bottom.Make sure the oven light bulb cover isin place and the oven light is off.IMPORTANT: The health of some birds isextremely sensitive to the fumes given off duringthe self-cleaning cycle of any range. Move birdsto another well- ventilated room.How to Set the Oven for CleaningWARNING: The surfaceunits are automatically disabled duringthe self-clean cycle. Make sure that allsurface unit controls are turned off at alltimes during the self-clean cycle. Anysurface unit that is set to an on position,while the self-clean cycle is operating, willautomatically come on after the self-cleancycle is finished, and could result in anon, unattended surface unit. Wait untilthe self-clean cycle is finished to set anduse the surface units.Touch the CLEAN pad once fora 4-hour clean time or twice for a3-hour clean time.A 3-hour self-clean time isrecommended for use whencleaning small, contained spills.A self-clean time of 4 hours orlonger is recommended fora dirtier oven.If a time other than 4 hours or3 hours is needed, use the numberpads and enter the desiredclean time.You can change the clean time to anytime between 21⁄2 hours and 5 hours,depending on how dirty your oven is.Touch the START pad.The door locks automatically. The displaywill show the clean time remaining. It willnot be possible to open the oven dooruntil the temperature drops below thelock temperature and the LOCKED lightgoes off.When the LOCKED light goes off, you willbe able to open the door. The word LOCKED will flash and theword door will display if you set theclean cycle and forget to close theoven door. To stop a clean cycle, touch the OFFpad. When the LOCKED light goes offindicating the oven has cooled belowthe locking temperature, you will beable to open the door.
