Checkelectrode gap with wire feeler gauge and resetspark plug gap to recommended gap if necessary (seeSpecifications).5. install spark plug and tighten firmly.NOT/CE You can purchase a new spark plug by calling1-800-4-1VlY-NOIVlE(469-4663).inspectiVluffler and Spark Arrestorinspect the muffler for cracks, corrosion, or other damage.Removethe spark arrester, if equipped,and inspect fordamageor carbon blockage, if replacementparts are required,make sure to use only original equipment replacementparts._i_ WARNING Exhaust heat/gases could ignitecombustibles, structures or damage fuel_ causing a fire, resulting death,tank inserious injury and/or property damage.Contact with muffler area could cause burns resulting inserious injury.• DO NOTtouch hot parts and AVOID hot exhaust gases.• Allow equipment to cool before touching.• Keepat least 5 feet (1.5 m) of clearance on all sides of pressurewasher including overhead.• It is a violation of California Public Resource Code,Section4442, to use or operate the engine on any forest-covered,brush-covered, or grass-covered land unless the exhaustsystem is equipped with a spark arrestor, as defined in Section4442, maintained in effective working order. Other states orfederal jurisdictions may havesimilar laws.Contact the original equipment manufacturer, retailer, or dealerto obtain a spark arrestor designed for the exhaust systeminstalled on this engine.• Replacement parts must be the sameand installed in the sameposition as the original parts.Air CoolingSystemOver time debris may accumulate in cylinder cooling fins andcannot be observed without partial engine disassembly. Forthis reason, we recommend you have a qualified Searsservice dealer clean the cooling system per recommendedintervals (see MaintenanceSchedule). Equally important is tokeep top of engine free from debris. See CleanDebris.Carburetor AdjustmentThe carburetor on this engine is low emission. It is equippedwith a non-adjustable idle mixture valve. Top speed has beenset at the factory. If adjustment is required, see an authorizedservice dealer._, CAUTION Excessively high operating speeds couldresult in minor injury and/or pressure washer damage.Excessively low speeds impose a heavy load.• DO NOTtamper with governor spring, links or other parts toincrease engine speed. Pressure washer supplies correct ratedpressure and flow when running at governed speed.• DO NOTmodify pressure washer in any way.AFTEREACHUSEWater should not remain in the unit for long periods of time.Sediments or minerals can deposit on pump parts and"freeze" pump action. Follow these procedures after everyuse:1. Shut off engine, turn off water supply, point gun in asafe direction, press red button and squeeze trigger torelieve trapped pressure and let engine cool.WARNING The high pressure stream of water thatthis equipment produces could cut through skinand its underlying tissues, resulting in seriousinjury and possible amputation.Spray gun traps high water pressure, even when engine isstopped and water is disconnected, which could result inserious injury.• Keephigh pressurehoseconnectedto pumpand spraygunwhilesystemis pressurized.• ALWAYSpointspraygun in safedirection,pressredbuttonandsqueezesprayguntriggerto releasehighpressure,everytime youstop engine.2. Disconnect hose from spray gun and high pressureoutlet on pump. Drain water from hose, gun, and spraytip extension. Use a rag to wipe off the hose.3. Empty pump of aii pumped liquids by puffing recoilhandle about 6 times. This should remove most liquid inpump.4. Coil high pressure hose on hose wrap provided onaccessorytray.5. Store unit in a clean, dry area.6.
