To STop ENGINEPush the stop switch to the OFF position. See Figure 9.1.Disconnect spark plug wire and ground it to prevent accidental2.starting while the equipment is unattended.uSING ThE LoG SpLITTERPlace the log splitter on dry, level ground.1.Block the front and back of both wheels.2.Place the beam in either the horizontal or vertical position and3.lock it in place with the appropriate beam lock.Block the front and back of both wheels.4.Place the log against the end plate and only split wood along the5.grain (lengthwise).To stabilize the log, place your hand only on the sides of the6.log. Never place your hand on the end between the log and thesplitting wedge.Only one adult should stabilize the log and operate the control7.handle, so the operator has full control over the log and thesplitting wedge.Control handleRefer to Figure 10 for the following steps.Move the control handle FORWARD or DOWN to split wood.1.Release the control handle to stop the wedge movement.2.Move the control handle BACK or UP to return the wedge.3.ToNGuEThe tongue is used to attach to a towing vehicle for transportation.ChokE CoNTRoLThe choke control is used to choke the carburetor and assist in startingthe engine.ChokE RuNSTop SWITChThe stop switch is used to turn off the engine and mustbe pushed back to the ON position before the engine willstart.To START ENGINEAttach spark plug wire and rubber boot to spark plug.1.Gas tank should be filled 3/4 to full before starting.2.Push the stop switch to the ON position. See Figure 9.3.Move the choke lever to the CHOKE4. position. (A warmengine may not require choking.) See Figure 9.Standing on the left side of the log splitter and facing the front of5.the engine, grasp thr starter handle and pull the rope out until youfeel a drag.Pull the rope with a rapid, continuous, full arm stroke. Keep a firm6.grip on the starter handle. Let the rope rewind slowly.Repeat, if necessary, until engine starts.
