Removethespark plug bootand use a sparkplug wrenchtoremovethe plug.See Figure22.Figure222. Visuallyinspectthe spark plug.Discardthe spark plug if thereisapparentwear,or if the insulatoris crackedor chipped.Cleanthesparkplug with a wirebrush if it is to be reused.3. Measurethe plug gap with a feelergauge.Correctas necessaryby bendingsideelectrode.See Figure23. Thegap shouldbe setto 0.030in.Servicing the Air CleanerNeverusegasolineor lowflash point solventsfor cleaningtheaircleanerelement.A fireor explosioncould result.The air cleanerpreventsdamagingdirt, dust,etc., from enteringthecarburetorand being forcedintothe engineand is importantto enginelifeand performance.Neverrunthe enginewithoutan air cleanercompletelyassembled.Checkthe air cleanerbeforeeachuse.Paperfilterscannot be cleanedand mustbe replacedoncea yearor every 100operatinghours;moreoften if usedin extremelydustyconditions.1.
