To stopthe wheelsand tines, releasethe ClutchLever.2. Movethrottlecontrolleverto slow(turtle) _ position.Wheneverpossible,graduallyreduceenginespeedbeforestoppingengine.3. Movethrottlecontrolleverto STOP_ position.4. Disconnectsparkplug wireand grounditagainsttheenginetopreventaccidentalstartingwhilethe equipmentisunattended.TO ENGAGE DRIVE & TINESDonot pushdownon the handlebarsto try to makethe tiller till moredeeply.This takesweight off the wheels,which allowthe tinestorapidlypropelthe tiller,which couldresult in loss of control,propertydamage,or personalinjury.1. PlacetheShift Leverin thedesiredforwardtillingpositionand pressthe ClutchLeverdownagainstthe handleto begintilling.2. Whentilling,letthewheelspullthemachinewhilethetinesdig.Walkslowlybehindthetillerallowingit to moveat its ownpacewhilekeepinga securegripon thehandlebarwithyourelbowsflexed.3. Releasethe ClutchLeverto stop the wheelsand tines.To move in reverse: (Do not till in reverse)1. Releasethe ClutchLever.Thenlift the handlebaruntilthe tinesare off the ground.2. Placethe Shift Leverin the reversepositionand thenpresstheClutchLeverdown againstthe handlebarand walk backwardswith the machine.NOTE: In reversemode,the tineswill not rotate.TURNING THE TILLERManually1. Practiceturningthe tillerin a level,open area.Be very carefultokeepyourfeet and legsawayfrom the tines.2. To begina turn, lift the handlebarsuntilthe tinesare out of thegroundand the engineand tines are balancedoverthe wheels.3. With the tiller balanced,pushsidewayson the handlebarto steerin the directionof the turn. After turning,slowlylowerthe tines intothe soil to resumetilling.Using the Swing LeverThe tiller handlecan be swivelledin eitherdirection.The SwingLeverenablesthetiller to be guided sidewaysto the next row.See FigureX.1. Pull up on the SwingLeverto releasethe handle.2. Swivelthe handleinto thedesiredposition.3. Releasethe SwingLeverto securethe handlein place.13 |
