For connecting a PC card reader/writer, see Using a PC CardReader/Writer ( 31).❍ Observe following precautions when the camcorder’s card accessindicator is flashing (the camcorder is reading or writing from or to thememory card). Failure to do so may cause memory card data tobecome corrupted.– Do not open the memory card cover, remove the memory card ordetach the USB cable.– Do not turn off the camcorder or the computer.– Do not change the position of the POWER switch or the TAPE/CARD switch.❍ Format the memory card with the camcorder or from the CameraWindow ( 34).❍ Still images recorded onto the memory card or downloaded to thehard disk are important original data files. Create a copy of the file firstbefore working on it on your computer.❍ MPEG-4 movies cannot be downloaded with this procedure. Refer toDownloading MPEG-4 Movies to a Computer ( 38).❍ For Windows XP Users:• Do not rotate the image in the [Windows Picture and Fax Viewer]or in the explorer view. The file format of the original image will bechanged and the image can no longer be displayed inZoomBrowser EX or on the camcorder.• If the [Server Busy] window appears when you connect thecamcorder to the computer, click [Retry].❍ You cannot connect the camcorder to a computer if the memory cardcontains more than 1800 images. For best performance, werecommend keeping the number of images on the memory card below100 when downloading still images to the computer.❍ Motion JPEG movies recorded with other Canon camcorders can bedownloaded with the same procedure as still images. Motion JPEGmovies are displayed with a movie icon above the thumbnail.❍ For instructions on how to set ZoomBrowser EX to start automatically, see page 71.Downloading Still Images (ZoomBrowser EX)
