45Step7When the Printer Does Not OperateProperlyIf the printer does not operate even after turning it ON or print ConfigurationPage Print properly, the following causes are conceivable.Changing the Language Used in theDisplayThe default value of the language used in the display is [ENGLISH].You can change the display language to [FRENCH], [GERMAN], [ITALIAN], or[SPANISH] using the following procedure.Symptom Cause RemedyThe printer cannot beturned ON.The power plug isunplugged from the ACpower outlet.Plug the power plug intothe AC power outlet.There is a break in thepower cord.If the printer is turned ONafter replacing the powercord with the one that is ofthe same type and is usedfor other device, there is abreak in the power cord. Inthis case, purchase a newpower cord and replace itwith the broken one.The indicators on thecontrol panel do not comeon.The printer is not ON. Turn the printer ON.The printer is in PowerSave Mode.The printer will be ready toprint after you send printdata or press any key onthe control panel.The printer does notoperate.The printer is offline. Press [Online] to turn onthe Online indicator.The interface cable isdisconnected.Connect the interface cablefirmly to the interfaceconnectors on thecomputer and printer unit.A paper jam occurs eachtime you print.The amount of the paperloaded in the papercassette or multi-purposetray exceeds the loadlimitation.Reduce the amount ofpaper to within the loadlimitation and print again.Paper is not loadedproperly in the papercassette or multi-purposetray.Load the paper properlyand print again.Unusable paper is loadedin the paper cassette ormulti-purpose tray.Replace the paper with onethat can be used and printagain.There is still jammed paperinside the printer.Remove any jammedpaper and print again.Nothing is printed on thepaper.Multiple sheets of paperwere fed at a time.Align the paper stack in thepaper cassette or multi-purpose tray properly andload it again. If you areusing coated paper orlabels, fan them thoroughlyand load them again.Any drum cartridge wasinstalled with the sealingtape still attached.Take the drum cartridge outof the printer, pull out thesealing tape, and thenreinstall the drum cartridge.The Message indicator ison and a message isdisplayed in the display.Some problem hasoccurred.See "Chapter 7Troubleshooting" inUser's Guide and solve theproblem.Symptom Cause RemedyCD-ROM
