Check engine oil with everyrefueling and add if necessary.Oil and fuel consumption may behigher than normal during thefirst 2 414 km (1,500 miles).. To break in new tires, drive atmoderate speeds and avoid hardcornering for the first322 km (200 miles). New tires donot have maximum traction andmay tend to slip.. New brake linings also need abreak–in period. Avoid makinghard stops during the first322 km (200 miles). This isrecommended every time brakelinings are replaced.Ignition Positions(Keyless Access)The ignition control knob can beturned to four different positions.To shift out of P (Park), the ignitionmust be in ON/RUN or ACC/ACCESSORY and the regular brakepedal must be applied.Using a tool to force the ignitioncontrol knob from its cylinder coulddamage it.Make sure the keyless accesstransmitter is inside the vehiclewhen trying to turn the ignitioncontrol knob.1 (STOPPING THE ENGINE/LOCK/OFF): When the vehicle is stopped,turn the ignition switch to LOCK/OFF to turn the engine off. RetainedAccessory Power (RAP) will remainactive. See Retained AccessoryPower (RAP) on page 9‑21.The ignition control knob cannot beremoved from the vehicle. Thekeyless access transmitter must beinside the vehicle to start theengine. This position locks theignition and shift lever on automatictransmission vehicles, and theignition and steering wheel onmanual transmission vehicles.Do not turn the engine off when thevehicle is moving. This will cause aloss of power assist in the brakeand steering systems and disablethe airbags.
