3-4Storage ManagerInstalling Storage ManagerThe original installation of the software starts with the installationinstructions covered in chapter 4 of the Adaptec RAID InstallationGuide. Use the instructions appropriate for the operating systembeing used.On operating systems other than Windows, Storage Manager wouldhave been installed during the process of copying the files from theCD to the areas denoted in the installation instructions.On a Windows system, after the drivers are installed and the systemis restarted, reinserting the Adaptec RAID Installation CD orexecuting autorun.exe starts the installation process for the StorageManager Software. See Figure 3-1 on the following page for theWindows selection screen from the installation utility. During theinitial installation, select the boxes as shown below:StorageManagerRequired for initial installation -- Loads theStorage Manager application.CommunicationsServerOptional -- Loads software to allow controlling theRAID array(s) on this machine from anothermachine via a network connection. Refer toRemote Communication on page 3-54 fordetailed information.BroadcastServiceOptional -- Loads software components fortracking and logging events on the array(s). Referto Events on page 3-35 for further information.SNMP Agent Optional -- Used in conjunction with the SNMPservice, which should be installed prior toinstalling this component. See Appendix A fordetails. May be used instead of theCommunications Server or DMI.RAID Engine Required for initial installation -- Loads the DLLused by other applications that need tocommunicate with the array hardware.DMI Component Optional -- Used in conjunction with the DMIstandard, which should be installed prior toinstalling this component. See Appendix B fordetails. May be used instead of SNMP orCommunications Server.
