17MAINTENANCE AND CLEANINGThe oven should be kept clean at alltimes. A build-up of fats or otherfoodstuffs could result in a fire.Before cleaning, ensure all controlknobs are in the OFF position, and theappliance has cooled completely.Before any maintenance or cleaningcan be carried out, you mustDISCONNECT the cooker from theelectricity supply.Cleaning materialsBefore using any cleaning materials on youroven, check that they are suitable and that theiruse is recommended by the manufacturer.Cleaners that contain bleach should NOTbe used as they may dull the surfacefinishes. A steam cleaner is not to beused. Harsh abrasives should also beavoided.External cleaningWe recommend for cleaning cleaners typeAXION or CIF that do not scratch the surface;after that rinse and dry with a soft cloth. Avoiduse of metall objects, steel wool or nylon pads,abrasive or caustic products, or diluents.Oven CavityThe enamelled oven cavity is best cleaned whilstthe oven is still warm.Wipe the oven over with a soft cloth soaked inwarm soapy water after each use. From time totime it will be necessary to do a more thoroughcleaning, using a proprietary oven cleaner.Oven Shelves and shelf supportTo clean the oven shelves, and shelf support soakin warm soapy water and remove stubborn markswith a well wetted soap impregnated pad. Rinsewell and dry with a soft cloth.Cleaning the Oven doorFor a more complete cleaning of the oven door, itis advisable to disassemble it in the followingway:- Open the door completely.- Turn the two locking parts on the hinge armsto 170°;- Partially close the door, to a 30 o angle;- Lift the door and pull out.locking partsRefit the door by reversing the operationdescribed above.The Hob TopThe hob is best cleaned whilst it is still warm, asspillage can be removed more easily than if it isleft to cool.Regularly wipe over the hob top using a soft clothwell wrung out in warm water to which a littlewashing up liquid has been added. Avoid the useof the following:• household detergent and bleaches;• impregnated pads unsuitable for non-sticksaucepans;• steel wool pads;• bath/sink stain removers.BurnersThe burner caps and crowns can be removed forcleaning.Wash the burners caps and crowns using hotsoapy water, and remove marks with a mild pastecleaner. A well-moistened soap impregnated steelwool pad can be used with caution, if the marksare particularly difficult to remove.After cleaning, be sure to wipe dry with a soft cloth.
