When servicing the foam element, check thecondition of the paper element. Clean by gentlytapping on a flat surface or replace as required.5. Reinstall the foam element, paper element andthe air cleaner cover.Do not operate the engine withoutthe air cleaner element because extreme enginewear and damage will likely result.Adjusting the Throttle ControlProper throttle operation depends on proper throttlecontrol adjustment. Before adjusting the carburetor,assure the throttle control is operating properly.1. Loosen the cable clamp screw securing the cableto the engine.2. Loosen the cable clamp screw securing the cableto the engine.2. Move the remote choke control lever forward tothe CLOSED position.3. Pull firmly on the choke cable until the chokebutterfly is completely closed, then tighten thecable clamp screw.Adjusting Carburetor and SpeedControlBefore the carburetor and speed controlare adjusted, the throttle and choke controls must beadjusted properly.The engine must be running during adjustment ofthe carburetor and speed control. To guardagainst possible personal injury, shift into neutral,and engage the parking brake. Keep your hands,feet, face, and other parts of your body away fromthe cutter blades and any rotating engine parts.1.
