3. Remove the fuel-tank mounting nuts and swingout the fuel tank.4. Verify that the blower is installed and tightlysecured.5. Loosen the 4 engine mounting bolts.6. Unhook the pump-belt tension spring.7. Loosen the 4 jackshaft mounting bolts.8. Measuring from the blower pulley as a baseline,move the engine and jackshaft until the rearsurface of all 3 pulleys are aligned within 0.8 to1.6 mm (1/32 inch to 1/16 inch) (Figure 64).Note: Use a straight edge to align all 3 surfaces.g006846Figure 641. Check the alignmentafter tightening.10. Install the pump-belt tension spring.11. Swing the fuel tank in and install the tankmounting nuts.12. Align the pump-drive pulley; Aligning thePump-Drive Pulley (page 52).Aligning the Pump-DrivePulleyThe pump-drive-pulley alignment is necessary for anyof the following conditions:• The engine mounting bolts have been loosened orthe engine has been moved or replaced.• The pump pulleys have been loosened, moved,or replaced.• The PTO pulley has been aligned; refer to Aligningthe PTO-Drive Pulley (page 51).1. Shut off the machine and move the speed-controllever to the NEUTRAL position.2. Disengage the PTO, engage the parking brake,shut off the engine, and wait for all moving partsto stop.3. Loosen the set screws on both pump pulleys.4. Using a straight edge, align each pump pulleywith the engine pulley by sliding it along thepump shaft (Figure 64).5. Tighten the pulley set screws and check thealignment.Adjusting the PTO BrakeSpringAdjust the PTO brake spring only if the blower hasbeen removed or replaced or if the PTO drive idlerarm has been disassembled.1. Stop the machine and move the speed-controllever to the NEUTRAL position.2. Disengage the PTO, engage the parking brake,shut off the engine, and wait for all moving partsto stop.3. Locate the brake spring and thread the 2 jamnuts out to the end of the brake-spring rod(Figure 65).4. Tighten the jam nuts together at end of thebrake-spring rod.g006848Figure 651.
