Clean the screen thoroughly with compressed air(Figure 88).5. Thoroughly clean the traction unit, cutting units, andthe engine.2. Check the tire pressure; refer to Checking the TirePressure.3. Check all fasteners for looseness; tighten as necessary.4. Grease or oil all grease fittings and pivot points. Wipeup any excess lubricant.5. Lightly sand and use touch-up paint on painted areasthat are scratched, chipped, or rusted. Repair any dentsin the metal body.6. Service the battery and cables as follows:A. Remove the battery terminals from the batteryposts.B. Clean the battery, terminals, and posts with a wirebrush and baking soda solution.C. Coat the cable terminals and battery posts withGrafo 112X skin-over grease (Toro Part No.505-47) or petroleum jelly to prevent corrosion.D. Slowly recharge the battery every 60 days for 24hours to prevent lead sulfation of the battery.Engine1. Drain the engine oil from the oil pan and install thedrain plug.2. Remove and discard the oil filter. Install a new oil filter.3. Refill the oil pan with motor oil.4. Start the engine and run it at idle speed forapproximately two minutes.5. Stop the engine.6. Flush the fuel tank with fresh, clean diesel fuel.7. Secure all of the fuel system fittings.8. Thoroughly clean and service the air cleaner assembly.9. Seal the air cleaner inlet and the exhaust outlet withweatherproof tape.10. Check the anti freeze protection and add a 50/50solution of water and ethylene glycol anti-freeze asneeded for the expected minimum temperature in yourarea.59
