Think Safety First (continued)• Using fire extinguishers…Use the proper class of fire extinguisher in case of fire.Ensure fire extinguishers are serviced regularly, and replace any fireextinguishers that are discharged or in use beyond their expiration dates.– Class A fire extinguishers are for ordinary combustible materials suchas paper, wood, cardboard, and most plastics. The numerical rating onthese types of extinguishers indicates the amount of water it holds andthe amount of fire it can extinguish. Geometric symbol (green triangle).– Class B fire extinguishers are for fires that involve flammable orcombustible liquids such as gasoline, kerosene, grease and oil. Thenumerical rating for class B extinguishers indicates the approximatenumber of square feet of fire it can extinguish.
