Look through the sight port and check that the oil levelin the axle is level with the bottom of the threads ofthe port (Figure 85 and Figure 86).Note: Use a flashlight and a mirror to help you seethe oil level.• If the oil level is too high, allow the oil to drainfrom the sight port.• If the oil level is too low, add the specified oil tothe axle housing sight port; refer to steps 6 and 7 inChanging the Oil in the Axles (page 58).4. Clean the threads of the sight plug.5. Apply PTFE thread sealing tape to the threads of theplug.6. Remove the plugs from the sight port and the drainport of the pinion housings for the axles (Figure 87and Figure 88).Note: Allow the oil to drain completely from thepinion housing and axle.3. Clean the threads of the plugs.4. Apply PTFE thread sealing tape to the threads of theplugs.5. Install the drain plugs into the drain ports at the pinionhousings (Figure 89 and Figure 90).58
