Key SwitchUse the key switch to power the electrical accessories, start themachine, and stop the machine (Figure 11). The 4 key-switchpositions are as follows:• Accessory—Rotate the key switch to this position toenergize the lamp switch circuits.• Stop—Rotate the key switch to this position to stop theengine and de-energize the electrical system.Note: Always remove the key before leaving themachine.• Run—This position allows the engine to run and willenergize all electrical systems.• Start—Rotate the key switch to this position to start theengine.Note: When you release the key, it will automatically goto the Run position.Foot PedalThe foot pedal controls the direction and speed of travel ofthe machine (Figure 13).Figure 131. Toe pedal (forward)Traction-Control ClusterThe traction-control cluster is located at the operator seat,adjacent to the left armrest.Utility-Traction JoystickWhen trenching, plowing, or boring, use the utility-tractionjoystick to change the direction and speed of the machine(Figure 14). The further you move the joystick in eitherdirection, the faster the machine will move in the selecteddirection.• Move the utility-traction joystick forward to move themachine forward (Figure 14).• Move the traction joystick rearward to move the machinein reverse (Figure 14).• Move the traction joystick to the center (Neutral) positionto stop the machine (Figure 14).3Figure 141. Gear-selector switchNote: The engine speed is controlled with the throttlebuttons on the home screen of the command-center panel;refer to Throttle Button (page 16).Gear-Selector SwitchThegear-selectorswitchislocatedontopoftheutility-tractionjoystick (Figure 14), and is used to select the transmission gear.The current gear is displayed on the home screen of thecommand center, above and to the left of the tachometerdisplay.Attachment-Control ClusterThe attachment-control cluster is located at the operator seatand is adjacent to the right armrest.Backfill-Blade / Vibratory-Plow JoystickNote: The backfill blade and the vibratory plow are optionalattachments.Note: The function of the backfill blade / vibratory plowjoystick depends on the attachment selected in the commandcenter.The backfill-blade/vibratory-plow joystick operates eitherthe backfill blade or the vibratory plow, whichever is selectedand displayed on the command center.
