4. Check the coolant mixture before you operate themachine in cold weather. Use only a 50% ethyleneglycol and 50% water mixture in the cooling systemyear round.5. Before operating the machine, move it at low speedand actuate each hydraulic control several times towarm the oil.Important: The engine and the hydraulic systemtemperature indicators must be in their respective,normal operating temperature ranges before youperform any work with the machine.Operating the Parking Brake1. Toggle the parking-brake switch down to release theparking brake.Note: The parking brake automatically engages whenyou stop the engine.Driving and Stopping theMachineUsing the Traction-Control PedalThe traction-control pedal controls the direction and thespeed of the machine. The speed of the machine depends onthe position of the gear-selector switch.Note: For maximum speed in either direction, push thepedal completely down.• Push down on the top of the pedal to move the machineforward (Figure 45).• Push down on the bottom of the pedal to move themachine rearward (Figure 45).• To reduce speed or to stop the machine, move the pedalup toward the Neutral position (Figure 45).Note: The foot pedal overrides the utility-traction controlwhen you increase or decrease the ground speed while youare operating rear-mounted attachments.Figure 451.
