Slowly pour approximately 80% of thespecified amount of oil into the filler tubeand check the oil level; refer to Checking theCrankcase Oil in Operation, page 22. Slowlyadd oil to bring the level to the F mark on thedipstick.8. Install the dipstick.Servicing the Spark PlugCheck the spark plug after every 100 operatinghours or yearly, whichever occurs first. Replaceif necessary.Type: Champion RN14YC (or equivalent)Air Gap: 0.030 inch (0.762 mm)Checking and Replacing the SparkPlugNote: The spark plug usually lasts a long time;however, the plug should be removed and checkedwhenever the engine malfunctions.1. Clean the area around the spark plugs so thatforeign matter cannot fall into the cylinderwhen the spark plug is removed.2. Pull the wires off of the spark plugs andremove the plugs from the cylinder head.3. Check the condition of the side electrode, center electrode, and center electrode insulatorto ensure that there is no damage (Figure 36).Important: A cracked, fouled, dirty,or malfunctioning spark plug must bereplaced. Do not sand-blast, scrape, orclean electrodes by using a wire brushbecause grit may eventually release fromthe plug and fall into the cylinder. Theresult is usually a damaged engine.Figure 361. Install the correctly gapped sparkplug and tighten the plug to 14 ft-lb (20 N⋅m).5. Install the spark plug wires.Fuel SystemMaintenanceInspecting Fuel Lines andConnectionsCheck the fuel lines and connections every 400operating hours or yearly, whichever occurs first.Inspect them for deterioration, damage, or looseconnections.Replacing the Fuel FilterReplace the fuel filter every 800 operating hoursor yearly, whichever occurs first.1. Raise the box and support it with the prop rod.33
