70GBUpdating the softwareBy downloading the latest version of thesoftware, you can take advantage of thenewest functions. The receiver accesses theSony server to update the software.If a new update is available, “[NewSoftware] Perform Software Update.”appears on the TV screen and “UPDATE”appears on the display panel when you areconnected to the Internet and using theHome Network or SEN function.Make sure that other equipment connectedto the receiver is stopped before updatingthe software.For details on software update available,refer to the customer support site(page 110).• Make sure not to turn off the receiver,disconnect the network cable or perform anyoperation on the receiver while the updatingoperation is in progress.• If you try to update the software when the SleepTimer is on, the Sleep Timer will turn offautomatically.1 Press HOME.The home menu is displayed on the TVscreen.2 Select “Settings”, then press .The Settings menu list appears on theTV screen.3 Select “System Settings”, thenpress .4 Select “Network Update”, thenpress .5 Select “Update”, then press .The receiver starts checking theavailable software update.6 When “A new version of softwareis found” appears on the TVscreen, select “Update now”, thenpress .A message that confirms whether ornot you agree to the terms of thesoftware update appears. Confirm themessage and also read the “END-USER LICENSE AGREEMENT FORSONY SOFTWARE” (page 117), thenpress .If the update is not available, “Noupdate is required.” appears.7 Select “Agree”, then press .The receiver starts to update thesoftware and the TV screen is turnedoff automatically. The ?/1 (on/standby) indicator on the front panelflashes during the update. It may take awhile (about 40 minutes at the longest)for the receiver to finish the update.The required time will depend on theamount of data in the updates, the linetype of the network, the networkcommunication environment, etc.“Complete” appears after the softwareupdate is finished.Changes or adjustments made to thesettings are now reset to the defaults.If one of the below conditions appears, thesoftware update has error.– The ?/1 (on/standby) indicator flashes inquick succession.– “ERROR” appears on the display panel.– No indicator lights up on the display panelor the ?/1 (on/standby) indicator lights off.– The receiver does not finish the updateafter 40 minutes and “UPDATING” keepon flashes on the display panel.Unplug the power cord, and then plug in thepower cord again. The receiver will try toupdate the software. If the conditioncontinues, contact your nearest Sony dealer.NotesNote
