Setting the Basic Action 27PreparationsNotes• Attach/remove the viewfinder while the camcorder isturned off.• When using the camcorder with the DVF-L700attached, turn the camcorder on while the POWERswitch of the DVF-L700 is set to ON.For details about attaching the viewfinder, refer tothe operating instructions of the viewfinder.1 Loosen the fixing ring of the viewfindershoe, align the slot of the viewfinder,then attach the viewfinder by sliding ithorizontally.2 Tighten the fixing ring afterdetermining the left and right positionof the viewfinder, then connect theviewfinder cable to the VF connector ofthe camcorder.To remove the viewfinderLoosen the fixing ring for the viewfinder, raisethe stopper, then remove the viewfinder bysliding it in the reverse direction for whenattaching.Before recording, make the basic settings, asrequired.Switch by setting “Frequency” in “SystemSetting” (page 90) of the System menu.After switching this setting, the camcorder willautomatically restart, depending on the settingvalue.NoteThe system frequency setting cannot be changed duringrecording or playback.You can switch between the “Cine EI” mode(allows you to use the camcorder as a filmcamera, where the movie is edited post-production, rather than at the time of shooting),and the “Custom” mode (allows you to editpictures as you make the movie, by accessing allthe setting items).Switch the mode by using “Shooting Mode” in“Base Setting” (page 90) of the System menu.Set the predominant signal format to be used.Set the format by using “Main Operation” in“Base Setting” (page 90) of the System menu.The RAW signal is recorded on the AXR-R5attached to the camcorder, and the YPbPr or RGBsignal is recorded on the SxS memory card in thecamcorder. Since the RGB signal is output fromthe SDI 1/2 connector of the camcorder, record iton an external device such as SR-R1.Select the format from YPbPr/RGB/RAW when“Shooting Mode” is set to “Cine EI,” and fromYPbPr/RGB when “Shooting Mode” is set to“Custom.”NoteThe RAW signal can be selected only when attaching theAXS-R5.
