Tracking Adjustment• Tracking adjustment will be activated automatically (DigitalTracking function) when you start playback.• When playing pre-recorded tapes or tapes recorded onunits other than your own, noise lines (black and whitestreaks) may appear on the playback picture. If this occurs,you can adjust the tracking control manually by pressingCH (oo/pp) until the streaks disappear. To return to the DTRfunction, stop the tape once and start playback again.• You can reduce the noise lines by pressing CH (oo/pp) inSlow mode, too. Slow tracking adjustment is not set auto-matically.• In the Still mode, press SLOW, and press CH (oo/pp) untilthe streaks disappear. To return to the Still mode, press theSTILL/PAUSE again.Turn on the TV and select the video channel on the TV.Insert a prerecorded tape.The VCR/DVD will turn on automatically. If the erase-pro-tection tab has been removed, the VCR mode will startplayback automatically.• If the VCR/DVD power was already on, press VCR toswitch to VCR mode.If playback does not start automatically, press VCR, thenpress PLAY to begin playback.• Tracking adjustment will be activated automatically(Digital Tracking function) when you start playback. This is because SKIP isset to ON for this position number.• When a weak signal is received in ChannelReprogramming mode, you can change the back-ground to static blue by pressing CLEAR/C-RESET.If you press the button again, the background willreturn to the static screen.Press K or L repeatedly until the channel move to anotherposition number, then press B.Press the MENU.7654321Channel ReprogrammingVCR OPERATIONPlayback System ChangeWhen you select AUTO by pressing TAPE SPEED/SYSTEM,this unit will distinguish the system (MESECAM or PAL) auto-matically according to the format of recorded tape duringplayback.If the picture on the TV screen is black and white, select thesystem MESECAM or PAL manually by using TAPESPEED/SYSTEM.Each time you press TAPE SPEED/SYSTEM, TV screen willchange “AUTO”, “MESECAM” or “PAL”.Speed SearchDuring playback, press FWD DD or REV EE to view avideotape at a high speed in either a forward or reversedirection. In this mode, the sound will be muted.Press the button again, the VCR/DVD will now search insuper high speed. (This function will not operate for aNTSC tape.)Press PLAY to return to normal playback.Still PicturePress STILL/PAUSE during playback to view a still picture onthe TV screen.• When the picture begins to vibrate vertically, stabilise thepicture by pressing the CH (oo/pp) in the Still mode.• After the VCR/DVD has been in Still mode for 5 minutes, itwill stop automatically to protect the tape and the videohead.NOTE (for “Speed Search” and “Still Picture”):• Usually there will be video “noise” lines (black and whitestreaks or dots) on the screen. This is normal.The stillpicture will, in addition to containing the “noise” lines,be black and white.This is not a fault of the machinebut merely a by-product of the technology involved inproducing a VCR with LP mode.Slow Motion• Press SLOW to reduce the playback speed. The VCR/DVDmutes the sound during slow motion. You can control thespeed by pressing FWD DD (faster) or REV EE (slower).Press PLAY to return to normal playback.• If it is left in the Slow mode for more than 5 minutes, theVCR/DVD will automatically switch to the Stop mode.321
