4-3INSTALLING THE MCP2 CARDCAUTION: Do not insert the card with system power on. Switch the power OFF.1. Install the SmartMedia card into its position on the MCP2 card. (Figure 4-1.) Below the rows of LEDson the front panel is a small hinged flap marked “Smart Media.” Pull open this flap to access the slot forthe SmartMedia card. Carefully insert the SmartMedia card into the slot, ensuring that the connectorsare facing towards the metal carrying handle on the MCP2 card, but taking care not to touch thehandle with the connectors. Push the card in until it clicks into place. Close the hinged flap.2. Install the required daughterboard(s) on the MCP2 card (refer to relevant daughterboard(s), below).3. Set the DIP switches to the desired positions (see table above).4. Insert the card into the slot labelled MCP/LCP (Figure 4-2). Push firmly at the top and bottom of thecard to ensure that it is fully inserted into the backplane connector. To prevent accidental damage tothe card, the MCP/LCP connector on the backplane is positioned to mate only with the MCP2 (orLCP2) card. Other interface cards will not mate with this connector and the MCP2 card will not matewith any other connector.LED INDICATIONSThe 12 LEDs show the operational status of the MCP2 card, SmartMedia card and card slots 1–9. The LED indications are described in Appendix A.Switch Control Processor Card (SCP2)The SCP2 card (Figure 4-3) is used when an ‘L’ system is expanded to more than one cabinet.In a multiple cabinet system the card becomes the processor for the KSU and communicates viaa high-speed data link to the MCP2 card. The card installs in slot 9 of the KSU.
