troubleshooting _79trouBLeSHootiNGPROBLEM POSSIBLE CAUSE SOLUTIONoven will not self-clean. The oven door lock is turned on. The display will show the Lockicon. Hold the oven door openand press the START/SET padfor 3 seconds. The oven willbeep and the Lock icon will turnoff.The warming drawer is beingused.Self-clean will not operate whenthe warming drawer is on.The oven is too hot. Let the oven cool down andreset the controls. The self-cleancycle will not lock the oven doorif the oven temperature is toohot. The door must lock beforethe self-clean cycle can start.The self-cleaning oven controlsare not properly set.Reset the self-cleaning ovencontrols. (See pages 68 and 69.)crackling or poppingsound.This is normal. This is the sound of the metalheating and cooling during anycooking or cleaning function.excessive smokingduring a self-cleaningcycle.This is the first time the oven hasbeen cleaned.This is normal. The oven willalways smoke more the first timeit is cleaned.Wipe up all excessive soilingbefore starting the self-cleaningcycle.If smoke persists, press the OFF/CLEAR pad. Open the windowsto clear the smoke from theroom. After the oven has cooledand unlocked, wipe up excessivesoil and reset the oven for self-cleaning.oven door will not openafter a self-cleaningcycle.This is normal. The oven door will stay lockeduntil the oven temperature dropsbelow 392 °F.oven not clean after aself-cleaning cycle.A fine dust or ash is normal. This can be wiped clean with adamp cloth.Set the self-cleaning cycle for alonger cleaning time. The cyclewas not long enough to burn offthe dirt buildup.Extremely dirty ovens requirehand-cleaning of excessivespillovers and food buildupbefore starting a self-cleaningcycle.
