Connecting up 0213EnWatching progressive scan videofrom the component video outputsThis player can output progressive scan videofrom the component video output. Comparedto interlace video, progressive scan videoeffectively doubles the scanning rate of thepicture, resulting in a very stable, flicker-freeimage.To set up the player for use with a progressivescan TV, see Video Output settings on page 36.When the player is set to output progressivescan video, the PRGSVE indicator lights in thefront panel display.Important• If you connect a TV that is not compatiblewith a progressive scan signal and switchthe player to progressive, you will not beable to see any picture at all. In this case,switch everything off and reconnect usingthe supplied video cable (see Easyconnections on page 11), then switch backto Interlace (see below).Switching the video output to interlaceusing the front panel controlsSwitch the player to standby then, using thefront panel controls, press STANDBY/ONwhile pressing to switch the player back toInterlace.Compatibility of this player withprogressive-scan and high-definition TVsThis player is compatible with progressivevideo Macro Vision System Copy Guard.Consumers should note that not all high-definition television sets are fully compatiblewith this product and may cause artifacts to bedisplayed in the picture. In case of 525progressive scan picture problems, it isrecommended that the user switch theconnection to the ‘standard definition’ output(Interlace).
