Workplace safetya) Keep your working area clean andwell lit. Untidy or poorly lit working areascan lead to accidents.b) Do not work with the devicein potentially explosive envi-ronments in which there areinflammable liquids, gases or dusts.Electrical power tools create sparks, which canignite dusts or fumes.c) Keep children and otherpeople away while you areoperating the electrical tool.Distractions can cause you to lose control ofthe device.2. Electrical safetya) The mains plug on the device must matchthe mains socket. The plug must not bemodified in any way. Do not use anadapter plug with devices fitted witha protective earth. Unmodified plugs andmatching sockets reduce the risk of electric shock.b) Avoid touching earthed surfaces suchas pipes, radiators, ovens and refrig-erators with any part of your body.There is an increased risk of electric shock ifyour body is earthed .c) Keep the device away from rain ormoisture. Water entering an electrical deviceincreases the risk of electric shock.d) Do not use the mains lead forany purpose for which it wasnot intended, e.g. to carry thedevice, to hang up the device or to pullthe mains plug out of the mains socket.Keep the mains lead away from heat,oil, sharp edges or moving parts of thedevice. Damaged or tangled mains leadsincrease the risk of electric shock.e) When working outdoors with anelectrical power tool always use ex-tension cables that are also approvedfor use outdoors. The use of an extensioncable suitable for outdoor use reduces the riskof electric shock.f) Use a residual current device (RCD)for protection if operating the electri-cal power tool in a moist environmentis unavoidable. The use of an RCD reducesthe risk of electric shock.3. Personal safetya) Remain alert at all times, watch whatyou are doing and always proceedwith caution. Do not use the device ifyou are tired or under the influence ofdrugs, alcohol or medication. One momentof carelessness when using the device can leadto serious injury.b) Wear personal protectiveequipment and alwayswear safety glasses.The wearing of personal protective equipmentsuch as dust masks, non-slip safety shoes, safe-ty helmets or ear protectors, appropriate tothe type of electrical power tool used andwork undertaken, reduces the risk of injury.c) Avoid unintentional operation of thedevice. Check that the electrical powertool is switched off before you connectit to the mains, pick it up or carry it.
