9GB/IEPreparing for first use / OperationPreparing for first useAttaching the auxiliary handleFor reasons of safety, this device must be usedonly with the auxiliary handle 8 in place andproperly attached.It is essential that you note the following:if the drill becomes jammed, a very large torquecan be generated („the force that the machine willexert to rotate about its own shaft“).j Attach the auxiliary handle 8 to the spindlecollar and fix in place by tightening the wingscrew. Attach the depth stop 10. This will helpyou to drill to the exact depth required.Inserting a tool into the chuckCaution! Before starting any tasks on the hammerdrill, make sure that it is switched off and themains plug is out of the socket.The RÖHM quick-release drill chuck allows you toexchange drills or other tools without using aspecial key etc.Opening the chuck andinserting a toolj Hold the rear shell of the quick-release chuck 9and turn the front shell until the tool (e.g. aroundshanked drill) can be inserted. Insertthe tool.Tightening the chuck onto the toolj Hold the rear shell of the quick-release chuck 9and turn the front shell sharply until you heara „click – clack, clack, clack“ sound (refer toFigure A). The chuck is now locked. To releasethe lock again, just turn the front shell in theopposite direction.Using the tool as a driverj You will require a suitable bit holder if you wishto use screwdriver bits with the drill.The screwdriver bits used must be match thescrew head. Set the switch 1 a to the drillsymbol.OperationFigures B - H show the various possible applicationsand uses.Examples of applications and uses. Drill bits notincluded.The mains voltage at the mains socket must matchthat shown on the rating plate on the device.Devices marked with 230 V can also be operatedat 220 V.Switching on and offSwitch on intermittent operation mode:j Press the On / Off switch 3 .Switch off intermittent operation mode:j Release the On / Off switch 3 .Switch on constant operation mode:j Press the On / Off switch 3 , and keep itpressed, then press the locking button 4 .Switch off constant operation mode:j Press the On / Off switch 3 and release it.Infinitely adjustablespeed settingTo produce a slow speed, just press lightly on theOn / Off switch 3 . This allows you to start up youroperations smoothly and in a controlled manner.If you increase the pressure on the On / Off switch3 , the speed will also increase.
