26With a DTS / Dolby Digital input or if Pro Logic is selected in Surround mode, the following three modes of operation areavailable as the Speaker setting: Normal, Phantom, 3 Stereo.If front and rear speakers are connected, useNormal mode. Centre speaker information willbe produced by the TV’s internal left and rightspeakers. With a DTS / Dolby Digital 5.1 input,the subwoofer/LFE speaker information isproduced by the TV’s internal subwoofer. If theinternal speaker is switched off (see page 25)and an external centre speaker used, thespeaker must be connected using RCA cables,via an external amplifier (otherwise it will notoutput any sound). See page 30 for connectiondetails.If external front left and right speakers are notconnected, use Phantom mode. Left, right, andcentre information will now be produced by theTV speakers. If you choose to use this mode withthe internal speaker switched off and front leftand right speakers connected, these must beconnected using RCA cables, via an externalamplifier (otherwise they will not output anysound). See page 30 for connection detailsThis is the best mode to use if rear speakers arenot connected. When using this mode, the rearleft and right surround information is redirectedto the front left and right speakers. Centreinformation is output by the TV’s internalspeakers. If the internal speaker is switched off(see page 25) and an external centre speakerused, it must be connected to the TV using RCAcables, via an external amplifier (otherwise it willnot output any sound). See page 30 forconnection details.Simulated surround modes allow various types of surround effects to be produced by mimicking both the direct sound, as heard bythe audience, and the sound reflected back from the surrounding walls e.g. ceiling and floor space in a space such as a disco.
