Additional handsets willgive you the freedom to, for example, havean intercom call with another handset whilea third handset is on an outside call. Seepage 3 for information on ordering additionalhandsets.Additional base unitsHandsets can be registered to up to 4 baseunits, allowing you to add additional baseunits and extend the area in which yourhandset(s) can be used. If a handset movesout of range of its base unit when “AUTO” isselected on base unit selection (page 31), itwill look for another base unit to make orreceive calls. A base unit and the handsetsit communicates with is called a “radio cell”.Note:L Calls will be disconnected when thehandset moves from one radio cell toanother.L Intercom calls and call transfers are onlypossible between handsets in the sameradio cell.Registering a handset to abase unitTo register an additional handset to abase unit (easy registration)The included handset and base unit arepreregistered. After purchasing anadditional handset, register it to the baseunit using the following method.1 Lift the additional handset and press{ih}.2 Press and hold {x} on the left side of thebase unit for about 5 seconds, until theregistration tone sounds.3 Place the additional handset on the baseunit. The registration tone continues tosound. With the handset still on the baseunit, wait until a confirmation tone soundsand w stops flashing.Note:L If an error tone sounds, or if w is stillflashing, register the handset manually(manual registration).L If all registered handsets start ringing instep 2, press {x} to stop, then start again.L Charge the batteries of your additionalhandset for about 7 hours before initialuse.To register a handset to an additionalbase unit (manual registration)You can register a handset to a base unitmanually using the following method.1 Press {j}.2 Press {v} repeatedly to display“SETTING HS”, then press {>}.3 Press {v} repeatedly to display“REGISTRATION”, then press {>}.4 Press {v} repeatedly to display“REGISTER HS”, then press {>}.5 Press and hold {x} on the left side of thebase unit for about 5 seconds, until theregistration tone sounds.L After pressing {x}, the rest of theprocedure must be completed within1 minute.6 Press {v} repeatedly to select a baseunit number, then press {>}.7 Wait until “BS PIN” is displayed, thenenter “0000” (default base unit PIN).L If you changed PIN, enter it (page 22).8 Press {>}.L When the handset has been registered
