13 ENGLISHPress cuttingSecure the workpiece with the vise. Switch on the toolwithout the blade making any contact and wait until theblade attains full speed before lowering. Then gentlylower the handle to the fully lowered position to cut theworkpiece. When the cut is completed, switch off thetool and WAIT UNTIL THE BLADE HAS COME TO ACOMPLETE STOP before returning the blade to its fullyelevated position.Miter cuttingRefer to the previously covered "Adjusting the miterangle".Bevel cutLoosen the lever and tilt the saw blade to set the bevelangle (Refer to the previously covered "Adjusting thebevel angle"). Be sure to retighten the lever firmly tosecure the selected bevel angle safely. Secure theworkpiece with a vise. Switch on the tool without theblade making any contact and wait until the bladeattains full speed. Then gently lower the handle to thefully lowered position while applying pressure in parallelwith the blade. When the cut is completed, switch off thetool and WAIT UNTIL THE BLADE HAS COME TO ACOMPLETE STOP before returning the blade to its fullyelevated position.CAUTION:• Always be sure that the blade will move down tobevel direction during a bevel cut. Keep handsout of path of saw blade.• During a bevel cut, it may create a conditionwhereby the piece cut off will come to restagainst the side of the blade. If the blade israised while the blade is still rotating, this piecemay be caught by the blade, causing fragmentsto be scattered which is dangerous. The bladeshould be raised ONLY after the blade hascome to a complete stop.• When pressing the handle down, apply pressureparallel to the blade. If the pressure is not par-allel to the blade during a cut, the angle of theblade might be shifted and the precision of thecut will be impaired.• Always set the sub-fence to the left positionwhen performing left bevel cuts.Compound cuttingCompound cutting is the process in which a bevelangle is made at the same time in which a miter angleis being cut on a workpiece. Compound cutting can beperformed at angle shown in the table.Miter angleBevel angleLeft and Right 0 - 4545When performing compound cutting, refer to "Presscutting", "Miter cutting" and "Bevel cut" explanations.Cutting crown and cove moldingsCrown and cove moldings can be cut on a compoundmiter saw with the moldings laid flat on the turn base. There are two common types of crown moldings andone type of cove moldings; 52/38° wall angle crownmolding, 45° wall angle crown molding and 45° wallangle cove molding.
