Cutting aluminum extrusion12345009523When securing aluminum extrusions, use spacerblocks or pieces of scrap as shown in the figure toprevent deformation of the aluminum. Use a cuttinglubricant when cutting the aluminum extrusion toprevent build-up of the aluminum material on theblade.WARNING:• Never attempt to cut thick or round aluminumextrusions. Thick or round aluminum extrusionscan be difficult to secure and may work looseduring the cutting operation which may result inloss of control and serious personal injury.8. Groove cutting1001563A dado type cut can be made by proceeding asfollows:Adjust the lower limit position of the blade using theadjusting screw and the stopper arm to limit thecutting depth of the blade. Refer to "Stopper arm"section described previously.After adjusting the lower limit position of the blade,cut parallel grooves across the width of theworkpiece using a slide (push) cut as shown in thefigure. Then remove the workpiece materialbetween the grooves with a chisel.WARNING:• Do not attempt to perform this type of cut byusing a wider type blade or dado blade.Attempting to make a groove cut with a wider bladeor dado blade could lead to unexpected cuttingresults and kickback which may result in seriouspersonal injury1.
