18CAUTION:• Be sure to return the stopper arm to the originalposition when performing other than groovecutting.Carrying toolFig.46Fig.47Make sure that the tool is unplugged. Secure the blade at0° bevel angle and the turn base at the full right miterangle position. Secure the slide poles so that the lowerslide pole is locked in the position of the carriage fullypulled to operator and the upper poles are locked in theposition of the carriage fully pushed forward to the guidefence. Lower the handle fully and lock it in the loweredposition by pushing in the stopper pin.Carry the tool by holding both sides of the tool base asshown in the figure. If you remove the holders, dust bag,etc., you can carry the tool more easily.CAUTION:• Always secure all moving portions before carryingthe tool.• Stopper pin is for carrying and storage purposesonly and not for any cutting operations.MAINTENANCECAUTION:• Always be sure that the tool is switched off andunplugged before attempting to perform inspectionor maintenance.• Never use gasoline, benzine, thinner, alcohol or thelike. Discoloration, deformation or cracks mayresult.WARNING:• Always be sure that the blade is sharp and clean forthe best and safest performance.Adjusting the cutting angleThis tool is carefully adjusted and aligned at the factory,but rough handling may have affected the alignment. Ifyour tool is not aligned properly, perform the following:1. Miter anglePush the carriage toward the guide fence andtighten two clamp screws to secure the carriage.Loosen the grip which secures the turn base. Turnthe turn base so that the pointer points to 0° on themiter scale. Then turn the turn base slightlyclockwise and counterclockwise to seat the turnbase in the 0° miter notch. (Leave as it is if thepointer does not point to 0°.)Fig.48Loosen the hex socket bolt securing the guidefence using the hex wrench.Lower the handle fully and lock it in the loweredposition by pushing in the stopper pin. Square theside of the blade with the face of the guide fenceusing a triangular rule, try-square, etc. Thensecurely tighten the hex socket bolt on the guidefence in order starting from the right side.Fig.49Make sure that the pointer points to 0° on the miterscale. If the pointer does not point to 0°, loosen thescrew which secures the pointer and adjust thepointer so that it will point to 0°.Fig.502. Lower the handle fully and lock it inthe lowered position by pushing in thestopper pin. Loosen the lever at the rear ofthe tool.Turn the 0° bevel angle adjusting bolt (lowerbolt) on the right side of the arm two or threerevolutions counterclockwise to tilt the bladeto the right.Fig.51Carefully square the side of the blade with thetop surface of the turn base using thetriangular rule, try-square, etc. by turning the0° bevel angle adjusting bolt clockwise. Thentighten the lever securely.Fig.52Make sure that the pointer on the arm point to0° on the bevel scale on the arm holder. If itdoes not point to 0°, loosen the screw whichsecures the pointer and adjust the pointer sothat it will point to 0°.Fig.53(2) 45° bevel angleFig.54Adjust the 45° bevel angle only afterperforming 0° bevel angle adjustment. Toadjust left 45° bevel angle, loosen the leverand tilt the blade to the left fully. Make surethat the pointer on the arm points to 45° onthe bevel scale on the arm holder. If thepointer does not point to 45°, turn the 45°bevel angle adjusting bolt (upper bolt) on theright side of the arm until the pointer points to45°. |
