Tighten the adjusting screw firmly at the positionwhere it stops sliding.Laser line is factory adjusted so that it is positionedwithin 1 mm from the side surface of the blade (cuttingposition).NOTE:• When laser line is dim and almost or entirelyinvisible because of the direct sunlight in theindoor or outdoor window-by work, relocate thework area to a place not exposed to the directsunlight.Aligning the laser line► Fig.23Laser line can be shifted to either the left or right side of theblade according to the applications of cutting. Refer to expla-nation titled "Laser beam action" regarding its shifting method.NOTE:• Use wood facing against the guide fence whenaligning the cutting line with the laser line at the sideof guide fence in compound cutting (bevel angle 45degrees and miter angle right 45 degrees).A) When you obtain correct size on the left side ofworkpiece• Shift the laser line to the left of the blade.B) When you obtain correct size on the right side ofworkpiece• Shift the laser line to the right of the blade.Align the cutting line on your workpiece with the laserline.ASSEMBLYWARNING:• Always be sure that the tool is switched off andunplugged before carrying out any work on thetool.Hex wrench storage► Fig.24: 1. Wrench holder 2. Hex wrenchThe hex wrench is stored as shown in the figure. Whenusing the hex wrench, pull it out of the wrench holder.After using the hex wrench, return it to the wrenchholder.Installing or removing saw bladeWARNING:• Always be sure that the tool is switched off andunplugged before installing or removing theblade.CAUTION:• Use only the Makita hex wrench provided toinstall or remove the blade. Failure to do so mayresult in overtightening or insufficient tighteningof the hex socket bolt. This could cause aninjury.Lock the handle in the raised position by pushing in thestopper pin.► Fig.25: 1. Stopper pinRemoving the bladeTo remove the blade, use the hex wrench to loosen thehex socket bolt holding the center cover by turning itcounterclockwise. Safety coverPress the shaft lock to lock the spindle and use the hexwrench to loosen the hex socket bolt clockwise. Thenremove the hex socket bolt, outer flange and blade.► Fig.27: 1. Shaft lock 2. Hex socket boltInstalling the bladeTo install the blade, mount it carefully onto the spindle,making sure that the direction of the arrow on the sur-face of the blade matches the direction of the arrow onthe blade case. Install the outer flange and hex socketbolt, and then use the hex wrench to tighten the hexsocket bolt (left-handed) securely counterclockwisewhile pressing the shaft lock.► Fig.28: 1. Blade case 2. SpindleWARNING: If the ring is needed to mount theblade onto the spindle, always be sure that thecorrect ring for the blade's arbor hole you intendto use is installed between the inner and the outerflanges. Use of the incorrect arbor hole ring mayresult in the improper mounting of the blade causingblade movement and severe vibration resulting inpossible loss of control during operation and in seri-ous personal injury. |
